5 Steps to become a Paddlesports Instructor

Step 1

Paddlesports Safety and Rescue Training

Book onto and attend a Paddle UK Paddlesports Safety and Recue Training Course. you can find out more information about the course and book onto one of the dates we have available by clicking the link below. or alternatively if you need help you can contact us on info@andys-courses.co.uk
STEP 2

Pre Course Registration

Once completing your PSRT Course and you have received certification, Navigate to your membership portal and within the menu click Registrations,CPD & APL. Then when the page loads Click add registration or check in. Complete the form and the pay the cost. The cost gives you the registration and access to resources only BC Paddlesport Instructors have access to.
Step 3

Personal Paddling and Rescue Competence

On the Paddlesport Instructor Award you will be assessed on your paddling and rescue skills. You MUST be able to control your craft and rescue a range of craft quickly, safely and efficiently from the craft you choose to be assessed in. You can have a look at the British Canoeing learner development pack which has the lists of personal paddling and rescue skills in what you will be assessed on (use the link below). If you are not up to standard by the end of the course, you will be given an action plan to further develop your skills. Step 4

Book and Attend your Instructor Course

Book yourself onto a course you can find out more information by clicking the link below and book onto a date we have available. As for the course it qualifies you in your chosen craft. Either kayak, canoe, SUP or Sit-on top. What this means is you, as the instructor, can only operate out of that specific craft. However, you can run sessions for anyone in any paddlesport craft. Once completed, with your club or centre, you can develop a professional development plan to outline the support you need when out delivering on your sessions or to upskill you enabling you to deliver from other craft or in bigger environments
